Wow! What an awesome little adventure last night was. I’m truly blessed to be staying with Nate and Marcus on their beautiful property in the haven of Scarborough. Both are consummate singer-songwriters who perform regularly (you can only imagine how blessed it is to wake to the sounds of either of them practicing!) and nurture an abiding love of music – which has exposed me to a wellspring of utterly luminous new music. And gotten me into the live music scene. My life will never be the same…
We went into town to hear Rowan Stuart and DieselVanilla at The Alma Cafe in Rondebosch – and it was well worth the trip! Both acts were enchantingly beautiful – I was bewitched by Rowan’s first song ‘She’s Music‘ and in tears during Rouchelle Hubsch and Darren Digby Peen’s ‘Waves‘ - that woman has an utterly unbelievable voice! Rowan, DieselVanilla and Nate Maingard are all performing tonight in Sunset Fireflies at Trinity. The gig starts at 8pm and entrance is free – if you can get there, GO! It’s sure to be an amazing show.
On a more personal note, I’m struggling with a few post-break-up gotta-go-back-to-pack-up issues and stumbled upon a little tale to help me maintain perspective. Which I thought I’d share with you:
An elderly Cherokee Native American was teaching his grandchildren about life…
He said to them, “A fight is going on inside me, it is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One wolf is evil—he is fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, competition, superiority, and ego.
The other is good—he is joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.
This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other person, too.”
They thought about it for a minute, and then one child asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win, Grandfather?”
The Elder simply replied, “The one you feed.”
Which wolf will YOU feed?

Your blog is Off The Hook! Love it, thanks for the big-ups, keep it real, love the Native American story so so so much!
you’re so welcome Nate! keep singing, writing and rocking. and honouring me with ‘first listens’ of new songs… I’m feel most blessed!
