I’m stimulated on a daily basis by what creative people ‘out there’ are up to. As I vacillate between my old self (the hardass b*tch with a tongue like a razor, literally mainlining Cynthia Heimel) and an emerging ‘new me’ (softer, more zen with oceans of love for the world at large and humanity in general – don’t laugh!), the good really gets me going. I was going to start ‘the eXfiles’ today (old me) until I stumbled upon 365q this morning – I decided to feed the other wolf…
Julian Bialowas, a graphic design student in Calgary, Canada started 365q “To inspire. To motivate. To get you out there” which he does by creating an image: the integration of one of his photographs with a quote designed to inspire and motivate. Using a series of cameras (all good photographers have more than one and I’m happy to see he shoots Nikon like me – unlike me, he has two) he captures majestic scenes in nature, then adds words found through film, conversation, lectures or in print and creates the final product in Adobe Creative Suite 5. You can buy prints here.
Freelancing as a photographer and designer in his spare time (impressive), he is also co-creating 16HOURS (‘Do More. Be More’) with Sian Richardson (a Kiwi, living in Sydney, Australia). These two designers, separated by 16 hours (the Calgary-Sydney divide -but you knew that, right?) are collaborating on a magazine which hopes to instil a spirit of adventure in readers and get us out there, exploring! Their first issue, ‘Wanderlust’ is due out soon. Kudo’s to them!
Now I’m off to the beach to get a little bit of that natural inspiration myself.
