Oh yes, ladies and gents: it’s competition time! An opportunity for a brave, adventuresome spirit out there – which could be you! See, I’ve been very very very lucky this year: I keep winning stuff. And it’s great. But I want to share the love and spoils of victory (see? new ‘me’. butterfly wings all a flutter in the breeze. or something. don’t laugh). Which is where YOU come in… So let’s preview what you’re getting yourself into:
This Saturday sees twelve of the country’s top Shiraz producers showcasing their fabulous flagship Syrahs for the Feast of SA Shiraz & Charcuterie at Hartenberg Wine Estate (syrah-shiraz; you say potatoe, I say - , no I won’t sing…). They’ll be joined by local charcuterie masters, cheese makers, bread bakers, olive enthusiasts as well as a merry band of musicians. With the bevy of fine labels: Eagles’ Nest; De Trafford; La Motte; Boekenhoutskloof; Kleinood; Boschkloof; Haskell; Luddite; Raka; Rust en Vrede and Nico van der Merwe, it’s bound to be an afternoon to remember (or, um, forget…should you ‘forget’ to spit). And I have two tickets – kind courtesy of winestyle (the chic quarterly coffee table book which, would you believe, is absolutely free?! Register for yours here)
This is where you come in, fearless one. I’m giving away one ticket to anyone (friends, friends-of-friends, strangers and even Dax, if he dares) who can creatively convince me to take them along for the ride (my chariot will transport). Get hold of me any way you see fit (just make sure you’re over 18 and in the greater Cape Town area), tell me why I should take you and << hey presto! >> I will! The winner will be announced at noon on Friday June, 3rd.
For the folks who aren’t keen on extreme sports but still after the fruits of the vine, you can book directly from Hartenberg Estate or online at www.webtickets.co.za. Tickets cost R150 per person gets you wine glass and tasting coupons (while the winner and I get a hamper!)
